The online environment is becoming more and more popular and an integral part of knowledge society. There is a huge transformational change in the scholarly publishing from print to digital environment. Similarly, the role of Libraries becomes more service oriented rather than collection oriented. Therefore, in this changing scenario of libraries the focus has been shifted from the use of traditional tools and techniques towards creating an online platform using open source software to render better library services. The main theme of the workshop is to provide theoretical as well as technical hands-on training to the Library and Information Science Professionals.

About the Workshop
The workshop aims to cover the essential concepts and technologies required for smooth functioning of a smart library. The course contents have been designed to cover all relevant topics like library automation, institutional digital repository, digital library services, scientometrics analysis of research output, server administration and networking etc. The workshop aims to focus on the infrastructure and metadata standard developed for National Digital Library (NDL) of India Project. Library automation is an essential phenomenon for any kind of library irrespective of their size. Now a day the availability of the open source software for library management like Koha, DSpace, Drupal, Joomla etc are being used by various libraries. The purpose of this workshop is to provide advanced level hands-on training to library professionals by the eminent experts in this field.
